Northern Virginia Task Force Deploys IxReveal’s Software

A task force has been established in Northern Virginia to address drug- related money laundering and the growing threat of terrorist financing. This team has been extremely successful with over 50 convictions and $5 Million in forfeited assets. This Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) review team is composed of members from local and federal agencies with the goal of reviewing SARs for suspicious activity and potentially seeking out criminal behavior with the goal of prosecution.

While HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas) has tried to use other analytical products to aid in this analysis, IxReveal's uReveal software is the only solution they found that could deal effectively for this process. Using uReveal, the task force can now achieve in minutes what used to take 15 law enforcement officials over 2 hours to produce. The SAR Review team looked at several categories of suspicious behavior to determine potential criminal activity, such as reporting avoidance, suspicious interaction with the teller, multiple deposits at potentially multiple branches over a short time period, even dollar deposits that are just under the reporting limit, and other general suspicious behaviors. IxReveal was able to model this behavior accurately and quickly. The HIDTA has already begun expanding the use of IxReveal technology in other areas within the HIDTA program.
